Classes

The Roxy Young Company Classes provide youth with the opportunity to develop their theatre skills, build friendships, and experience a sense of belonging. Act 1 Fall Classes emphasize performance, while Act 2 delves into all aspects of theatre. Throughout the programs, participants work diligently to refine their abilities, boost their confidence, and cultivate a supportive, creative community.

Classes

Act 1: JR Program Ages 7-9
Wed. 4:00-6:00 Sep.11 – Dec.11, 2024
This program is tailored for the budding actor in your life who’s eager to explore the exciting world of theatre! Through a series of engaging activities, games, and creative movement exercises, participants will dive into the basics of performance. From learning how to express emotions on stage to understanding stage directions, this program offers a fun and supportive environment for young talents to develop their skills. Parents will be welcome to come and watch the last day of class.

In this program, participants will take the next step in their theatrical journey by delving into the process of putting together a performance. Through interactive workshops and hands-on experiences, they will learn essential theatre skills such as character development, script analysis, and stage blocking. The highlight of this program is the opportunity for participants to showcase their talents in a performance on the last day at the Roxy Theatre, where they’ll apply everything they’ve learned to captivate their audience.

Welcome to Act 1 Advanced, where the magic of theatre truly comes alive! In this program, participants will immerse themselves in all aspects of theatrical production as they work towards putting on a show. From honing their acting abilities to dabbling in the theatrical elements, participants will experience the thrill of collaboration and creativity. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, they will refine their skills and unleash their full potential on The Roxy stage.

In this weekly intensive, students will learn solos, group numbers and dance numbers as they prepare for summer events. Students must have been in a Young Company program before, or if they are new, they must audition in order to join.

Roxy Young Company Policies

Registration Fees
• Program registrations must be paid in advance
• Registration fees are processed through the Roxy OSLT’s ticketing system
Cancellations & Refunds
1. If you cancel or are absent without advanced notice less than two weeks before your program
begins, no refund or credit will be issued.
2. If you cancel at least two weeks before your class/camp begins, you will receive a refund
minus a $25 cancelation fee.
Absences
1. Due to the structure of our programs, there are no make up days for absentees
2. There are no prorated fees for missed days
3. There are no prorated fees or make up days for snow days/weather cancellations.
Roxy Young Company – Participation Policy
In agreeing to participate and/or use The Roxy facility or related program rental space, I understand that the OSLT/Roxy will not be liable for any loss, injury or death resulting from participation in our programs or events. I agree to waive my right to sue The Roxy, The Owen Sound Little Theatre or any person working with or for the organization, including but not limited to staff, Board of Directors, volunteers and/or contractors for any loss, injury or death resulting from participation in our programs or events.
I authorize OSLT/Roxy to have and use photographs, slides, video recordings, and comments of the person(s) participating in our programs as needed in promotional materials, including but not limited to, the Roxy website or social media platforms.
Bursary Information

With the help of the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound we have options to assist kids who want to participate. Please apply today.

Grace McRae

Grace holds a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre performance from Sheridan College and has appeared in productions such as Seussical the Musical, Legally Blonde, A Man of No Importance, and Grand Hotel. During her four years in the program, Grace has had the opportunity to be mentored theatre greats, such as Joel Gray, Bartram and Hill, and Laurence Follows. Grace has been involved with OSLT since childhood and is thrilled to have the opportunity to give back to the community who gave so much to her.
