Roxy Youth Program

The Roxy Youth Program supports the Vision and Mission of the Roxy OSLT by valuing Education and Participation in order to create a respectful, creative community of young people that participate in the arts.

The program is facilitated by Lacey Mooney our Roxy Youth Program Coordinator. If you have any questions about the program she can be reached via email at youthprogram@roxytheatre.ca or a message can be left with the box office.

The program is broken into three Pillars: Theatre Education, Theatre Camps, and the Roxy Young Company. Explore the different areas to find out more about the benefits and programming we offer.

We look forward to helping you explore the amazing world of live theatre and the caring and supportive community it creates!

Bursary Information

Finances should never prevent a child from participating in the arts. The Roxy Youth Program is committed to making our programs accessible to as many children and youth in our communities as possible. The Roxy Youth Program Bursary Fund allows children to register in Roxy Youth Programs based on your family’s financial need.

With the help of the Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound we have options to assist kids who want to participate. Please apply today.

Our Theatre Camp Pillar includes various types of camp experiences for when kids are out of school. Theatre camps give youth a chance to experience theatre life in a safe and fun environment where they work as a team learning skills and participating in the creative process.

We had a great summer camp series in July 2021, presenting “One Love – A Cabaret” to audiences at Kelso Beach Amphitheatre.

Our Roxy Youth Program Coordinator leads the Roxy Young Company and is supported by the Owen Sound Little Theatre staff and volunteers.

Act 1: IMAGINE

From September-December 2021 we learned all aspects of theatre. Participants focused on team building while learning aspects of performing (singing, dancing and acting) as well as backstage elements such as props, costumes, sets and tech. A small showcase was planned on the last evening for family and friends showing what everyone has learned. We shifted to Zoom this year for that show due to community health and safety measures.

Wednesdays 4:00-6:00pm. Cost: $225.00 plus HST and service charge.

Act 2: CREATE & PERFORM

The Young Company switches gears and will focus on one production from January-May 2022. Participants will put on a fully licensed musical production with costumes, sets, lights, makeup, props and more!

Rehearsals take place Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00pm.

Shows are scheduled May 12-14 at the Roxy Theatre. Cost: $325.00 plus HST and service charge.

This year’s production is Matilda JR!
