SweetWater Music Festival 2019

SweetWater is all about “Evolution” for its 16th Festival of world-class music. The 2019 Festival will be Mark Fewer’s final one as Artistic Director. He’s got a few musical treats left on his bucket list. The stellar line-up includes the SweetWater debut of world-famous counter-tenor Daniel Taylor, Adrian Butterfield, David Braid, Kenneth Slowik, and Rachel Brown. SweetWater’s next Artistic Director, violinist Edwin Huizinga, will also be a featured performer.

Featuring Mark Fewer (violin), Edwin Huizinga (violin), Aiyun Huang (percussion), Rachel Brown (flute), Kenneth Slowik (harpsichord), David Braid (piano), Joseph Phillips (bass), Mike Murley (saxophone), Mark Adam (percussion)

Concert will feature David Braid with a new version of his Juno-winning Lele’s Tune for string quartet and jazz quartet. The evening will include a new work by Canadian composer Michael Oesterle performed by Aiyun Huang and Mark Fewer.

The Festival finale will include a performance of Vivalid’s Gloria directed by Kenneth Slowick and featuring the Schola Cantorum, choir from the University of Toronto. Other works to be performed include Haydn’s String Quartet Opus 77, No 2.
